Leaked specs show the Pixel 2 will be a flagship worth waiting for



Google's follow-ups to last year's Pixeland Pixel XL are two of the flagships we've still not  seen this year - with a reveal expected October time - but judging by the specs that just leaked onto the web, they're going to be worth the wait.

The posted benchmarks show a phone with a 2.4GHz Snapdragon 835 CPU, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage space and a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with 4K video support. On the front there's a 7-megapixel snapper.

Those specs more or less match up withearlier rumors of what the Pixel 2 phones are going to be packing, and if they're right then these handsets are going to be a match for the 2017 flagships from the likes of Apple andSamsung. Remember we're anticipating that two or maybe even three Pixel 2 phones will make an appearance.

Screen time

The spec that really stands out from the benchmark listing is a 2,560 x 1,312 pixel, 5.6-inch display - not only does that suggest this is the larger XL model but it also hints that Google is joining the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6 in going for a 18:9 screen.

With phone display bezels disappearing fast, that extra screen space gives users more room for webpages, movies, photos, games and whatever else they want to bring up on screen. Netflix has even started filming some of its shows in a 2:1 aspect ratio.

We're just four months away from the expected Pixel 2 reveal date and the rumors are starting to flow in: based on the speculation that's appeared so far, we're looking at a set of flagship phones that are going to be waterproof, headphone jack-less, and rather expensive.

Ethical hackers show that Windows 10 isn’t immune to WannaCry

Remember WannaCry? The  huge ransomware attack , which caused chaos last month,  mainly affected Windows 7 PCs,  with the latest Windows release being immune thanks to its beefier security – but that has now changed, as security researchers have ported the malware over to Windows 10. Well, to be precise, the folks at RiskSense have adapted the central exploit which WannaCry was based on, called EternalBlue, so it can successfully compromise  Windows 10  systems. The ethical hackers (white hats, as they’re known) further honed the exploit, streamlining the code and reducing its footprint, and also doing away with the DoublePulsar backdoor, instead creating what they described as a “stealthier payload mechanism” to deliver a custom payload to the target machine. As  Bleeping Computer  reports, the researchers said that this was all in an effort to “[substantiate] the premise that the original exploit's DoublePulsar payload is a red herring for defenders to focus on”.
